Outlet.fyi

Cultural Programming & Marketing - Founder

2019 - 2021

In May 2017, I began developing Outlet.fyi, formerly known as CLPS.IO, as a mobile app connecting people to experiences produced by contemporary artists and cultural institutions.

In October 2017, I soft-launched the brand as a booking agency representing a national roster of 15 multidisciplinary artists. In December 2017, the Outlet.fyi mobile app launched in beta. In August 2018, I created a newsletter to accompany the app, which eventually outgrew the platform by more than 3,800 members. I also introduced a social membership with a monthly subscription that provided access to select private events.

On October 20, 2018, I hosted our first member event: a private screening of RaMell Ross' Oscar-nominated documentary Hale County This Morning, This Evening, followed by a Q&A with Black Panther Party leader Kathleen Cleaver at the Crosby Street Hotel.

On November 16, 2018, I left my job at Red Bull to focus on scaling the company full-time.

In January 2019, I officially launched Outlet.fyi as a multicultural media and marketing company rooted in the arts. Our mission was to strengthen the bond between artists, institutions, and the greater public in order to promote cultural awareness and artistic literacy. We pursued this mission through original content, community programming, and cultural events.

Later that month, as a founding member of Dumbo House (Soho House & Co.), I hosted a private dinner there to introduce future partners to the company, assembled a team of advisors and supporters, and secured our first paid marketing partnership with the Brooklyn Museum.

On April 16, 2021, we sent our final letter.

As the ways we gathered shifted during the 2020 pandemic, so too did my relationship to the arts and the institutions surrounding them. It became clear that it was time to close this chapter.
