Appointed Time is an experimental short film inspired by witnessing my mother navigate life after the loss of her daughter—my younger sister, Jamila Livingston—who passed away within our childhood home from lupus nephritis on June 11, 2025, at the age of thirty-three, just three years after her diagnosis.

The film reflects on what it means to witness grief and its becomings: the subtle signs of wonder, spiritual presences, and quiet moments that appeared in our home during that time—and how those encounters illuminated pathways toward healing.

It is a work of catharsis: a sonic meditation on faith, time as material, and memory as frequency; a soundscape of Black interior life.
